No one can hide the truth that Isekai has become one of the most popular anime genres out there! and although a lot of these Isekai anime that we are bombarded with every new season are basically the same and adopt the same concepts, from time to time something special and unique stands out and makes everybody stand and impressed by how good of a show it is
So in this article, we brought you the Top 10 Best Isekai Anime Of All The Time that impacted the community positively and received much love from the fans!
Take note that in this list:
- Shows based on RPG concepts like “Sword Art Online” are not included!
- Fantasy shows like “DanMachi” might seem like Isekai but the MC is not transported to another world, so they are not considered
- This ranking will updated every time we see the need to do so
Saga of Tanya The Evil

- Genres: Action, Military, Magic
- Studio: NUT
- Episodes: 12
The main character of this show is really interesting! instead of being lighthearted, wanting to do good and helps other, “Tanya Degurechaff” is an evil blondie little girl, military genius, who is driven by hatred, vengeance and acts violently!
“Saga of Tanya the Evil” is not just a great Isekai anime, it’s also one of the best military shows you can find out there! the way the power system is used is unique and interesting and the world-building matches perfectly the overall atmosphere of the show.
What makes this anime unique and has a different taste is the fact that it doesn’t feel like it’s actually an Isekai anime and throughout the episodes, you may forget that completely! this is a perfect example that the Isekai genre can be more than just the overpowered main character who aims to kill the demon lord in a fantasy world!
OVERLORD

- Genres: Fantasy, Action, Supernaturel, Superpowers
- Studio: MadHouse
- Episodes: 13(S1) 13(S2) 13(S3)
“Overlord” is one of the most popular Isekai anime that was the gate for a lot of people to discover this genre for the first time and give it a chance or change their mind about it because of how much it’s name is circulating in the medium.
“Overlord” is mainly famous for its main character “Ainz Ooal Gown”, also known as “Momonga” not only for his limitless superpowers which makes him one of the most overpowered main characters in all anime but also for his character design which is considered as of of the coolest and badass looking main characters in anime
What makes “Overlord” this late in the ranking is the pacing, I honestly think that this show has a lot of potential but even after 3 seasons, a lot of things about the story are still unclear and some scenes or moments during the anime are still confusing which makes me think that at this point, it’s not the about plot or the story writing, it’s all about the bad (sometimes) execution or adaptation of the studio!
This obviously coming out from an anime-only perspective so if you are a source material consumer please correct us ( without spoiling if possible) and give us some hope for the upcoming seasons!
Drifters

- Genres: Historical, Action, Seinen
- Studio: Hoods Drifters Studio
- Episodes: 12
The concept of this show is an interesting and unique one! we have a lot of popular historical figures from different time periods and different nations all brought together into a single era and then a great battle begins!
“Drifters” is a show full of great and badass characters, it’s a dark and bloody anime that reminds me a lot of “Hellsing ultimate” and the first season was a great way to introduce the cast and made a lot of people hyped for a sequel
We had high expectations for this series at that time but year after year the second season never happened and the hype around it started to disperse and almost nobody is talking about this show today
This doesn’t hide the fact that this was an awesome Isekai anime and I’m pretty sure that whenever the second season will drop with the same production quality and more story development, this anime will get back its shine once again!
Welcome to Demon School Iruma Kun

- Genres: Comedy, Slice of Life, Shounen
- Studio: Bandai Namco Pictures
- Episodes: 23(S1) 21(S2)
“Welcome to Demon School Iruma Kun” is the most underrated anime on this list for sure, and I won’t be surprised if a lot of you don’t even recognize this series!
In this anime the main character “Iruma Suzuki” is not dead a reincarnated, instead, he is sold by his awful parents to a high-ranked demon who brought him to the Underworld!
The first season of this show took a lot of time introducing the characters and explaining how things work in this world which is very important to the story because unlike how this show may seem ( a comedy anime with a lot of goofy characters and some wholesome moments) the story has a plot and a very interesting idea! “Gintama” is another example of this type of show ( ironically these 2 shows are made by the same studio!)
The second season is where things get more interesting and introduce a different side of the show

No Game No Life

- Genres: Psychological, Games, Shounen
- Studio: MadHouse
- Episodes: 12
“No Game No Life” is a show that brought a lot of new things to the genre, first of all instead of just one person, two people were transported to an alternative universe! and second, instead of fantastic battles or ferocious fights, the problems in this world are settled throughout different games!
It’s true that this show was a short one ( without forgetting about the movie of course) but we had a lot of epic and hype moments which are graved in our memories
“No Game No Life” season 2 became a meme, it’s the sequel that everybody wanted but never happened, but with the return of some series that got a new season announcement after years and years of waiting, as the case of the devil is a part-timer, the hope for a season 2 of this show started to rise again
The Rising of the Shield Hero

- Genres: Action, Drama, Fantasy
- Studio: Kinema Citrus
- Episodes: 25
“The Rising of the Shield Hero” is like your typical Isekai anime, the main character got transported to a fantasy world to become the hero and save the kingdom, but what makes this show so much better is the great execution and the production quality
The art style was always sharp throughout the entirety of the season, the sakuga and animated action scenes were so expressive and reflected perfectly the intensity of the fights, the soundtracks, and music choices were suitable and fitting for the themes of this anime
But besides this, there is another thing that made me choose to put “The Rising of the Shield Hero” this high on this list, and its the drama in this show, which is, in my opinion, even better than the action part! “Naofumi” found himself in a very difficult situation from the beginning, and being a hero, who people are supposed to look up to and respect, he got the complete opposite treatment and received so much hate for something he didn’t do!
Seeing how he was able to overcome all of that, becomes stronger physically and mentally with the help of those he chose who stayed beside him, and finally be able to prove his worth again, changed the opinion of others about him and most importantly being able to protect his little family was such a ride.
Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation

- Genres: Drama, Fantasy, Adventure
- Studio: Bind
- Episodes: 23
“Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation” is an Isekai anime that took the community by storm when it came out, and it’s easy to see why!
Ans despite receiving so much hate because of some inappropriate scenes that happened in this show, and because of the personality of the main character, this doesn’t hide the fact that it is still a very successful series that gathered a huge fanbase!
There is a lot that we can talk about that made this anime a great one! in terms of the production, this could be the best series on this list, in terms of writing, the story is really cultivating, and the characters are so much involved and important!
“Mushoku Tensei” was a journey that feels like it was never-ending! despite being just 23 episodes, it felt like one hundred or so, we met a lot of different characters, we went through multiple places and we have a lot of adventures and challenges, it was a fantastic journey full of mixed emotions!

Konosuba

- Genres: Comedy, Fantasy, Slice of life
- Studio: Deen
- Episodes: 10 (S1)
“Konosuba” tackles the Isekai genre in a completely different way! you have all the elements of your typical Isekai anime, but instead of going the serious and adventurous path, it makes everything sarcastic!
This is one of the funniest shows I have ever watched! the jokes are original and fit my sense of humor and I don’t ever get annoyed or bored rewatching this show’s episodes, it’s always a good time and I love it!
However, is this enough to put this series this high on this list? I would say definitively yes, it’s hard to find a show as funny as “Konosuba” and coming from someone who doesn’t have a specific preferred genre, if a show is great and entertain me, even if it put a different taste in my mouth, I will just take it and say it good!
But I think that “Konosuba” has more into it! I have high expectations for this anime for the future season and I feel like this comedy we are having in this show so far is just the large surface, I think that “Konosuba” has something different for us instore, something that will take it to the next level!
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime

- Genres: Adventure, Fantasy, Action, comedy
- Studio: 8bit
- Episodes: 24(S1) 24(S2)
Also known as “Tensura“, one of the most pleasing anime out there that you can watch and then feel full and satisfied!
“Tensura” is a great show that you can enjoy for different reasons! it’s an excellent source of entertainment that mixes different elements that make it different throughout various parts of the show, sometimes it’s like a slice of life, sometimes it’s action-packed, sometimes it’s political and dialogue-oriented and sometimes it’s just some funny and ridiculous moments
And season 2 ? if it’s just for this sequel alone I will still put this anime this high on this list! it was such a wild experience that played with my emotions and it completely changed my perspective on it and made me fall in love with it even more!
The premise of this anime may seem basic and simple, but sometimes it’s all that you need, with good execution, to deliver something great and powerful!
Re:ZERO Starting Life in Another World

- Genres: Seinen, Fantasy, Drama
- Studio: White Fox
- Episodes: 25(S1) 25(S2)
“Re:Zero” is one of the greatest anime we got in the last decade! it’s one of those revolutionary shows that come out from time to time and catches all the attention of the anime community
The first season of this anime premiered in a year when shows like “Mob Psycho 100” and “My Hero Academia” and yet it was considered the best new series of the same year!!
And then season 2 came out and again, aired in the same season “Attack on Titan” season 4 was broadcasted, and overall I think that “Re:zero” was better in a lot of ways, and this also should explain how much I like this show and why I see it as the best Isekai anime of all the time!
